About Ruger P95

The P95 is a semi-automatic fiberglass reinforced pistol. Its barrel, slide and action are the same as the P93 model. In 2006 the optional Picatinny rail became standard. Its cartridge was introduced together with the Luger semi-automatic pistol.

Unlike the other polymer framed pistols on the market at the time of design, the P95 model had no metal inserts in the frame. The high strength polymer allowed the slide to ride directly on the polymer frame rails that simplified manufacturing and also further reduced production costs. In 2005 was introduced the P95PR which incorporates a Picatinny rail into the frame and adds a new non-slip texturing in the polymer frame. This new model replaced the original P95 in production.

The Ruger Firearms has achieved several noticeable achievements during its existence, for instance in December 2004 came a day D for the Ruger. This company was awarded a contract for 5,000 pistols, model KP95D by the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and the Armaments Command, Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois. The P95 pistol was slowly phased out in recent years in favor of the newer SR pistol series. The P95 was quietly discontinued in October 2013 and removed from the Ruger's website catalog.
